Practice Forum

Picture
A central objective of occupational health psychology is to make a difference to workers' lives through application of the principles of applied psychology and scientific research evidence. To this end, education and research in OHP must be translated into workplace interventions if occupational health psychologists are to practice what they preach.

The Practice Forum of the EAOHP provides an arena for discussion and sharing of best practice. Historically, the Academy's biennial conference has demonstrated itself to be the optimum time and place for such debate. With the advent of internet technology, the Academy is keen to encourage a momentum of debate that emanates from each conference and continues throughout the year amongst member practitioners.

Through out 2016 -2018 we will be looking to increase relevant articles on practitioner issues on the Practice Forum. We are looking to develop regional co-ordinators within Europe to help form a HUB of practitioners who can share best practice. We would like to encourage practitioners to meet together in the region to discuss issues relevant to them. Please see links to small grant fund on left hand drop down menu. Practitioner EAOHP regional groups could apply for a contribution to a regional meeting being set up.

I have had conversations with Society of Occupational Health Psychology SOHP about increasing  opportunities for practitioners from EAOHP and SOHP www.sohp-online.org. to share issues relevant to them. I am discussing with APA whether we can use the listserve service to ask specific practitioner related questions and issues .

Practitioners issues  are also being represented on The International Co-ordinating Group for Occupational Health Psychology (ICG-OHP) which is trying coordinate international developments in OHP research, education and professional practice. The ICG meets periodically and includes representatives from the European and North American representative bodies for the discipline (EAOHP; SOHP), the two pre-eminent OHP journals (Work & Stress; Journal of Occupational Health Psychology) and supportive organisations (American Psychological Association; National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health; European Agency for Safety and Health at Work). Its website can be found at www.icg-ohp.org

So bookmark this page for further update and articles.
